Garden House

A family  of 4 that has spent its last 30 years in the middle east had decided to relocate to and had decided to set up their new  family home in Coimbatore. The 5000 sft site sits amidst a cluster of houses and an apartment complex. The house draws a subtle reference to the architecture from the middle east by using large blank white walls to not only shun heat but also views into the house from the closely packed neighbourhood. A trellised facade inspired from the souks of Abu Dhabi becomes a screening element and an architectural feature. The house enjoys a generous garden encapsulated in the middle, making it very private but enjoyable from every corner of the house. The garden is not only the breathing lung of the house but also the common thread that pulls the design together for the clients who wish to spend their time gardening. All of the windows of the north and southern blocks of the house face inward and have a unifying proportion striking a sharp balance with the blank white walls.
